Installed, Calibrated & Supported Locally

On-Board Weighing Systems Brisbane. Loadmass installs and supports OBM systems for rigid trucks, council fleets, and multi-combination vehicles across greater Brisbane and South East Queensland. Real-time load data in the cab. No guesswork. No overloading fines.

Keeping Brisbane Trucks Compliant

From Rocklea to the Port of Brisbane, Acacia Ridge to Ipswich, Loadmass is fitting and servicing on-board weighing systems across South East Queensland . Our Brisbane-based mobile fitting team comes to you whether you’re at a depot in Darra, a worksite in Murarrie, or a council yard in Geebung.

Government & Council Fleets

Built for Council and Government Fleets

Council fleet management isn’t like running a private haulage operation. You’re accountable to ratepayers, bound by procurement rules, and subject to NHVR compliance checks that private operators rarely face at the same frequency. Your drivers are operating waste collection trucks, water tankers, street sweepers, civil works tippers, and pothole patching rigs — often on suburban streets with tight turning circles and variable loads.

What Fleet Managers Actually Need

Running a managed fleet isn’t like running a private haulage operation. You’re accountable to stakeholders, bound by procurement or compliance frameworks, and subject to NHVR checks that many operators rarely face at the same frequency. Your drivers are operating across a wide range of vehicle types — often with variable loads, varied terrain, and tight operational windows where getting the weight call wrong has real consequences.

What Fleet Managers Actually Need

We have an On-board Weighing system for EVERY Australian Truck Make and Model

  • Rigid and combination trucks across all GVM/GCM classes
  • Tippers, tankers, and bulk haulage vehicles
  • Waste and service body trucks
  • Crane and hooklift configurations
  • Specialist and multi-axle heavy plant vehicles

Rigid Truck Solutions

OBM Systems for Every Rigid Truck Configuration

Rigid trucks are the backbone of Brisbane’s freight, construction, and council operations. They’re also the vehicle category where overloading fines are most common — because loads are often estimated, not measured, and suspension varies significantly between vehicle types.

Loadmass specialises in rigid truck OBM systems that are calibrated specifically to your truck’s suspension setup. The result is accurate, repeatable weight data that a driver can trust at the point of loading — not a rough estimate that gets refined by the weighbridge.

Suspension Types — Why It Matters for Accuracy

The suspension system on a rigid truck directly determines how an OBM system is configured. Getting this wrong means inaccurate readings. Getting it right means data your drivers and compliance team can rely on.

Steel Leaf Spring Suspension

The most common configuration on Australian rigid trucks — particularly older Hino, Isuzu, and UD models, as well as most tippers and civil trucks. Leaf spring systems require sensor placement and calibration that accounts for the non-linear response of spring deflection under load. Loadmass technicians are experienced in achieving accurate readings across the full load range on spring-suspended rigids.

Air Suspension (Airbag)

Increasingly common on newer rigids and preferred on waste trucks, tankers, and vehicles carrying sensitive loads. Air suspension systems measure load through air pressure — when calibrated correctly, they’re highly accurate and easy to read. Loadmass systems interface directly with the airbag circuit to deliver real-time load data without additional sensors in high-wear locations.

Combination (Spring Front / Air Rear)

Many mid-range rigids — particularly Isuzu FVZ, Hino 500 series, and similar — use a hybrid configuration: leaf spring on the front axle, air suspension on the drive axle group. This requires a dual-input calibration approach to produce accurate axle group readings. It’s a common configuration in Brisbane council fleets and commercial rigids, and one our technicians are well-practised in.

Compliance & Regulations

NHVR Compliance, Higher Mass Limits & Smart OBM

Australian heavy vehicle compliance is managed under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and overseen by the NHVR. For operators accessing Higher Mass Limits (HML) or running under Performance Based Standards (PBS), on-board mass measurement isn’t optional — it’s a condition of access.

For operators running Zero Emission Heavy Vehicles (ZEHVs) under state-based exemption notices — including the NSW Class 3 ZEHV scheme — Smart OBM with TCA Type Approval may also be required.

Loadmass can advise on which compliance pathway applies to your fleet and supply the appropriate system. This is one part of what we do — not the whole story.
